In 2002, with Latitude Tree Vietnam facing increased utilisation of its production facilities due to an increasing demand for its furniture products, Latitude Tree Malaysia decided to expand its production base in Vietnam by establishing RK Resources. RK Resources acquired a plot of land of approximately 72,472.1 sq m located at Lai Uyen Ward, Ben Cat District, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

 Subsequently, as part of a restructuring exercise, RK Resources entered into a merger agreement dated 1 April 2006 with LT Resources and LTH Resources (then wholly-owned subsidiaries of Latitude Tree Sdn Bhd). LT Resources, a company incorporated in Vietnam, had an investment capital of US$3 million and a paid-up share capital of US$0.9 million. LTH Resources, a company incorporated in Vietnam, had an investment capital of US$3 million and a paid-up share capital of US$0.9 million. LT Resources had acquired a plot of land of approximately 93,928.9 sq m located at Lai Uyen Ward, Ben Cat District, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam while LTH Resources had acquired a plot of land of approximately 96,244.1 sqm located at Lai Uyen Ward, Ben Cat District, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

Each of LT Resources and LTH Resources ceased operations with effect from 7 June 2006 and all capitals, assets and liabilities of LT Resources and LTH Resources were integrated into RK Resources.

RK Resources acquired a fourth plot of land of approximately 103,742.2 sq m in December 2006 located at Lai Uyen Ward, Ben Cat District, Binh Duong Province and constructed a factory with a built up area of approximately 93,000 sq m. 

As RK Resources’s production facilities was equipped and installed with more automated and efficient manufacturing equipment such as the Point-To-Point Machines and CNC Routers, RK Resources was able to churn out bigger volume at each single production run, produce higher-quality products with increased productivity, and lower production costs. Together with the installation of more automated and efficient manufacturing equipment, RK Resources also adopted and implemented the flow-line production method (based on lean manufacturing concepts).

With the emerging trend towards increasing demand for Collection Sets in the furniture industry, in 2003, Latitude Tree Vietnam expanded into the production of Collection Sets such as dining room Collection Sets and bedroom Collection Sets. In 2004, our Group secured our largest order for an entire series of bedroom, dining room and living Collection Sets comprising 51 furniture items in total.  

In 2006, our subsidiaries Latitude Tree Vietnam and RK Resources together attained the status of the largest exporter of wooden furniture in Vietnam, and continued to maintain such position for 2007 and 2008.   

In 2008, with the aim of diversifying and further increasing our product range, our Group expanded into ODM services by producing our in-house designs of accent chairs that are specially designed lounge chairs that are usually placed in hotel lobbies.

In order to streamline the group corporate structure and to enhance operational efficiency, Latitude Tree Vietnam acquired the entire paid up investment and legal capital of RK Resources from Latitude Tree Sdn Bhd in June 2007. Pursuant to the acquisition of RK Resources, the legal capital of Latitude Tree Vietnam was increased by US$4.56 million to US$7.56 million.

On 8 October 2007, our Company was incorporated in Singapore as private limited company with an issued and paid-up capital of S$1.00 comprising one (1) ordinary Share as the subscriber share, which was held by Latitude Tree Malaysia.
